Food photography is usually in a photographic studio, but can also be photographed on location. The food that needs to be photographed need not be piping hot, but the old stories you’ve heard about all sorts of cheating, of using mashed potato instead of ice cream; those food photo stories are past history. Nowadays when we shoot food it is the real thing, and there lies the skill of the food photographer. I’ve shot food for the BBC, Sainsbury, Marks and Spencers as well as many large brands through the advertising and marketing agencies.
